He wrote his Diploma Thesis on the possibility of DNA replication of tumor antigens from SV40-transformed cells. He continued as a graduate student at the university and obtained his Ph.D. with a thesis on the identification, cloning and characterization of replication-defective SV 40 genomes from SV 40 transformed cells of rodents in 1986. Between 1986 and 1987 he was employed in the Research Department for Molecular Biology of Behringwerke AG in Marburg, Germany, before training as a Patent Attorney. Between 1992 and 1996 he was a partner in the Muller-Boré law firm in Munich before he started the current practice in 1996. His current practice involves work in the field of intellectual property law, including all representation of clients at the German Patent & Trade Mark Office, the European Patent Office, the German Federal Patent Court, and in nullity actions at the Federal Supreme Court. He is experienced in infringement litigation concerning patents, utility models and in competition law. His technical speciality is in the fields of biochemistry and biotechnology, e.g. immunology, plant biology, molecular genetics, cancer research, human gene research and virology. He was furthermore actively involved in the drawing up of the EU guide lines concerning patenting of biotechnology inventions.
