Three types of trademark applications, leading to individual types of regeistered trademark, are available within Europe: national trademarks, the Community Trademark and international trademarks may each be applied for and registered separately.

The trademark application must not only supply details of the trademark itself, but must also specify those products and services which the trademark is supposed to be used for.
